Retailers are getting ready for the highest ever online Christmas spend yet up 43% on last year. Forrester’s predicts that the UK's 27 million online shoppers will spend nearly £14 billion during the festive season.

Lingerie company Mio Destino has come up with a number of innovative marketing tools to ensure they don’t ‘slip’ behind the competition and can ‘basque’ in record sales.

Mio Destino has created a Christmas campaign based around their own version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. They gave us a sneak preview of the full campaign tonight but have asked the we keep it under wraps as they are going to realease one verse every two days starting form today. So we have written our own version so as not to spoil the surprises so sing along!

Lingerie shop burns as sparks ignite feather boas

Things got steamy in all the wrong ways Saturday at Priscilla’s, a lingerie shop at 2690 Nicholasville Road.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 12:32 p.m., after a light fixture in the ceiling failed, emitting sparks.

“It just happened to be over the display of feather boas,” said District Major Harold Hoskins of the Lexington Fire Department. “The majority of their merchandise was destroyed.”

No one was injured.

Police are searching for a shopper who set some lingerie on fire inside the K-Mart store on South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. Shoppers were briefly evacuated on Sunday because of the fire.

Workers said a shopper set a rack full of bras on fire. Firefighters were called to the business and quickly put out the fire.

Whoever started the fire was able to get away.

Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating in the hope that surveillance video from the store will help them identify the suspect.

What do you think of when you put the words Russian and Lingerie together, for many it will be the images of Daniella Biancha playing Russian secret agent Tatiana Romanova in from Russia With Love, Sean Connery has said it was his favourite Bond film and we can see why. Have a look at the video below featuring the many pictures of Daniella wearing lingerie in the film.



But of course Miss Universe runner up Daniella Biancha was not actually Russian, in fact they had to dub her voice in the movie becuase of her strong italian accent. It may be 45 years since 'From Russia with love' but as the Moscow time reports today in Russia, there is an established culture of lingerie. Women in Russia are eager to keep a good stock of lingerie that will titillate their lovers, and of course impress their friends. In fact, lingerie is usually intended to be seen, and the word on the street from shop assistants is that women normally arrive at shops in couples when trying to find something special.

The buying-lingerie-with-girlfriends men generally fall into one of two distinct camps. There are the unashamedly enthusiastic ones, who will be full of suggestions and informed opinions. And there are inevitably the mortally embarrassed types. Pity them, as they try to skulk by the exit, waiting for the moment when either their shopping companion/slave driver releases them from their torment or a large hole opens up in the ground and provides the same liberation.

Easy Shop LingerieA Taiwanese lingerie company encouraged its entire female office staff to go to work in their lingerie for the day. Naming November 21st Camisole Day to celebrate record sales.

The Sing Hwa group which manufactures lingerie also markets under the Audrey brand (for Attractive, Urbane, Delightful, Romantic, Elegant and Young) and owns a chain of over 250 high street retailers called Easy Shop which in keeping with the Easy Shop name are decorated bright orange. Come on Stellios, own up what is your involvement?




Employees at Easy Shop LingerieAll 500 women working in the firm’s headquarters were encouraged to wear only camisoles and knickers - much to the excitement of their male colleagues. “We have been waiting for this day all month. Today, we are super high, and don’t know where to put our eyes,” salesman Cai Mingda told Straits News. More than 90% of female workers reportedly went along with the spirit of the day and worked in their underwear. Perhaps these young ladies pictured on the Easy Shop website were the 10 %.




Liao Wenshen, 30, said; “The men were red-faced all day, and were becoming so polite to us. It’s so funny!” Zhang Yufeng, 32 and a mother of two added, “I have been on a strict diet to get ready for the day. When I was trying on my outfit at home, my husband told me I should dress like this every day.” We are not surprised; Audrey certainly makes an attractive range. Here are some of examples.

Huang Bihui, PR manager of the company, explained: "We introduced eight new camisoles into market and sold more than 20,000 in less than two months so we named the 21st as Camisole Day."

Employment lawyers said there was nothing illegal in the move so long as it was voluntary but it had its critics. Wu Juanyu complained: "Some women may feel forced to join in because of peer pressure and job competition. I don't know if the company is selling underwear or women's bodies."

The company has plenty to celebrate taking a US$100 million share of the domestic lingerie market since launching its first retail store in 2001. It was a bold move for a manufacturer to vertically integrate right through to the high street but with lingerie representing a full third of the Taiwan US$2.5 billion domestic market it was one worth pursuing.

The biggest breasts in Europe!

M&S Lingerie British women have the largest breasts in Europe and they are getting bigger with each generation.

The average bust size in the UK has increased in a decade from 34B to 36C and Marks and Spencer has led the way amongst high street retailers in servicing the demand for larger bra sizes. They have announced they are increasing their current range by three sizes up to a J cup. "We noticed a definite trend among younger women needing a larger cup size, but these sizes are more difficult to come by, and up until now women had to seek out specialist fitters to get their bras custom-made." says Soozie Jenkins, head of M&S's lingerie design.

Leading online retailer figleaves.com is also providing larger sizes from brands such as Freya, Lejaby and Panache.

But why is it happening? Undoubtedly silicone plays a role with over ten thousand cosmetic implants being carried out every year. However other causes are sited which may have a role.

M&S LingerieBreast tissue is very sensitive to hormones with some women having a noticeable increase in breast size as they approach their period. This has led to speculation that the contraceptive pill is linked to the increase with some people going as far as to claim that oestrogen that gets into the water supply from women taking the might be a factor. However, there is less oestrogen in the pill now than there used to be.

Some people speculate that artificial hormones used in food production could be a factor but nobody has produced any research that supports this and similar levels of hormones are used in other countries.

So despite the rush by the daily papers to pick up on Marks & Spencer announcement with stories of bigger boobs and all of the pseudo scientific speculation to explain the phenomenon is seems we are simply carrying more body fat in general than ever before. This is supported by the less headline grabbing fact that waist and hip sizes have increased in proportion.

In her blog Belle de Jour once described herself as an " alpha stiletto-wearing, lingerie-obsessed, Pulitzer-reading female", well it seems that actress Billie Piper has become the role at least as far as the lingerie obsession is concerned. In this interview she describes how before playing the role of call girl Belle in the ITV2 series ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ she had little interest in what was in her underwear drawer but has now become a lingerie shopaholic.
